I did ten photos on what I find to believe represents the emotion of distraction or that may be distracting to the eye when looked at.

Music Video Analysis
I chose to do the music video from Dragonforce which is a British power metal band. In this video there were a lot of visual tools used. First off the camera is in an extreme close up of the drummer's sticks hitting the drum then the shot moves over to the singer keeping the same extreme close up shot. The shot then moves out to a medium shot of the other band members and then moves to a close up shot of the singer where only his shoulders and his face are seen helping us to get a clear expression from his face and to give the effect he is the main guy cause the camera is focused in on him. Throughout most of the video the shot is kept at a medium shot in order to have clear balance between the subjects and their environment. Later the camera shot moves out to the wide shot to get the whole band in the frame as well as their environment that they are playing in which appears to be a land being torn apart by alien spacecraft. You also see the use of eye line where the band members begin to look up in the sky and then in the next frames you see the spacecrafts that they were looking at in the previous shot. There are also a few spots where you get a low angle shot but most of the shots are eye level. Some of the visual components that were noticeable were a mix between deep and flat space, good use of warm reds and orange which helps to support the songs fast and urgent pace and can also be seen as causing friction. Later on when the two main guitar players go against each other in a video game of themselves playing their solos you get the sense of tension between the two players and to help recognize that tension you see them each playing their guitars on top of large rocks with a canyon separating them. Use of split screen within the music video also creates a line between the two players which helps create tension and show that they are competing to see who plays their solos better. Shot within shot is also used to get a close up of guitar player strumming guitar while at the same time you see the whole person as well. Finally the overall tone of the video appeared to have a low key to mid key where the shots had some shadow but it was not too dark that you could not tell what was going on.

Video Ideas
Music Video - For the music video what I had in mind would be to use my abilities with the trumpet and create a music video where the musician would put a spell on some people by playing the trumpet. Then the musician uses the trumpet to play mind tricks on some people where they continue to keep hearing things when in reality it turns out to be their alarm clock in the end that was creating the noise telling them to get up.

Documentary Video - For the documentary video I think it would be cool to visit a local news station and interview someone who works with editing and creating as well as analyzing social media sites for that particular news station and what sort of things that they do to get ideas of what we as students could possibly look into for future endeavors. I have a professor that I could possibly talk to who works at WSBT and is their digital content manager so we may be able to have access to some of the things that he does for the station.

Narrative Video - For the narrative I decided to take the route of doing a non-fiction video of where we have come in terms of communication. From the strings tied to the cups to communicating via online through social media and Skype I think it would be cool to tell the story of communication because it is vital not just in our society but around the world and has been a vital key to our survival. With a creative mind and the technology that all of us possesses it should be very possible to create an informational and inspiring narrative.

Self Portrait and Bio
Austin Wray
Bio:
Hi, my name is Austin Wray I am currently a Junior at IUSB with a major in Integrated New Media Studies and am planning on getting a minor in Informatics. Some of my favorite movies consists of The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Star Wars, Godzilla series, Indiana Jones, Pirates of the Carribean and Star Trek sagas. My number one favorite TV show is Doctor Who. Some video games that I like to play are Mario Kart, The Legend of Zelda, Mario, fighting games, medieval fantasy games and shooters. If I could make any kind of media it would probably be sci-fi, fantasy genre video games where it would feel real to the player and make them feel like they are actually in the game kind of like in the movie Tron. Overall I want to be able to learn about Premiere and After Effects to be able to make and edit videos and create animations for whatever the future holds for me.Thank You,
Austin wray
